Biography

Gladys Gibson, 90, a resident of Dan Flood Towers, Kingston passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Unit at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre a daughter of the late Frederick and Olwyn Davies Weiss. Gladys was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston. She enjoyed sewing and her favorite pastime was making needlepoint projects especially for the Women’s Fellowship Christmas Tea.

For many years she played Mrs. Santa Clause to the local schools and libraries as well as at church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gibson, sisters, Ruth, Magdalene, Margaret, Nan, Isabel, and Louise.

Surviving are her children, daughters: Linda Wielgosz, of Kingston, Susan Gibson and her husband Jon Fisher of Camp Hill; son Jim Gibson and his wife, Bonnie Gilbert of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are her grandchildren, John, Matthew, and Mark Wielgosz of Kingston, Amy Dalmas and her husband Michael of Manassas, Virginia, David Sakalouckas of Camp Hill; great granddaughter, Mia Dalmas.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 West Market Street, Kingston. Services will be conducted by Rev. James Harring. Private interment services will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Maher-Collins Funeral Home, 360 N. Maple Avenue, Kingston.
