Life Legacy


Donna Marie Klapat, of Wilkes-Barre, a loving wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother passed into eternal life on Sunday, February 24, 2008.


She was born June 7, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of Judy Shovlin of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Harry Shovlin. A graduate of James M. Coughlin High School she also attended Empire Beauty School and was a licensed cosmetologist.


Previously she was employed at Hair Handlers and as the secretary for St. Dominic's Church.


Donna was devoted to her family and friends and would always put other peoples needs in front of her own. She left a lasting impression on the lives of everyone that had known or met her.


Surviving in addition to her mother, husband, Frank Klapat, with whom she recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, daughter, Lynn Klapat, Wilkes-Barre, son, Alan Klapat and his wife, Jamie, Wilkes-Barre, granddaughter, Alaina, who cherished each other and every moment that they spent together, brothers, Harry Shovlin and his wife, Margarette, Falls Church, Virginia, and their son, Eric, Jeff Shovlin and his wife, Patti, Henderson, Nevada, and their children, Megan and Ryan. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Dominic's Church.


Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township. Friends may call Tuesday 5-8.
