Life Legacy
Mary Patricia Joyce Gill, of North Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday at her home.
She was born March 4, 1919 in Pittston, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Hinchcliffe Joyce. A 1936 graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, she graduated from College Misericordia in 1940 and was a teacher in the Jenkins Township School District for a number of years.
In 1942 she married Attorney Thomas F. Gill. Mrs. Gill was a member of the Catholic Community of North Wilkes-Barre and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Little Flower Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Frances Germann, brothers, Ned, Joseph, and George Joyce.
Surviving are her children, Tom and Alice, at home; Mary, Old Bridge, New Jersey; Anne, Forty Fort; Nora, Hudson; Liz, Kingston; Peter, Wilkes-Barre; John, Richmond, Virginia; Nick, Nacogdoches, Texas; Michael, Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are grandchildren, PJ, Baltimore, Maryland; Drew, Weehawken, New Jersey; Rachel, Austin, Texas; Harry and Martha, Richmond, Virginia.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday 5-8.
