Life Legacy
Stanley Joseph Washinski, 83, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Hatboro, passed away on Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born January 4, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre a son of the late Stanley J. and Anna Gurdock Washinski. He served in the Navy during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Washinski was employed as a typesetter in Philadelphia until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Washinski, and brother Henry Washinski.
Surviving are his niece, Diane Kogoy and her husband, John, with whom he resided; sisters, Anne Woehrle, Wilkes-Barre, Florence Gavoni, New Haven, Connecticut; brothers, Joseph Washinski, California; Edward Washinski and his wife Lorraine, Syracuse, New York; Eugene Washinski and his wife Nancy, Wilkes-Barre.
Also surviving are his wife, Claire Washinski, Hatboro; stepchildren, Thomas Wunder, Georgia; Claire Kersey, Arizona; Mary Ann Kravitz, Florida, step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Dominic's Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hudson. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9.
