He was born August 27, 1954 in Ridgewood, New Jersey a son of the late Werner and Doris Knight Kunkel. He attended Ridgewood High School and was an Army Veteran of Foreign Wars for the United States earning various medals. Following his discharge, he was a Master Electrician and mechanic for several companies including Firmenich, McGraw Hill, and New Jersey Steel. Ed was an extremely skilled problem-solver and jack of many trades.
Ed was a fan of the New York Giants and New Jersey Devils and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Eric.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Peggy (nee Connelly); children, Don Edward Kunkel and his wife Jhane, Paul Eric Kunkel, Jillian Paige Jackson; grandchildren, Grayson, Wesley, Maddox, Gavin, Ryder, Ava, Nova; brother Richard Kunkel and his wife Becky; sister Jane Giampetruzzi , many extended family also survive.
