Catherine “Kay Ann” Dwyer, 76, formally known as Kay Czarnecki, passed away at Highland Park Senior Living on March 17, 2023. She was born in Kingston a daughter of the late Neil and Gertrude Boyle Dwyer. Kay was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kingston and received a bachelor's degree from College Misericordia, Dallas. She was a second grade teacher for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for 35 years. She taught at Cotton Ave and at the time of her retirement she was at Solomon Elementary School. Kay was genuine, generous, joyful and loving. Everybody loved Kay and her laugh! Kay put her family above all else, and she loved traveling and seeing the world with them. Kay is now singing with the choirs of angles in heaven, as she always had throughout her life. Surviving are her daughters, Corinne O’Hara and her husband, John, Karen Shapleigh and her husband, David; grandchildren, John O’Hara Jr., Clara Jane O’Hara, Alenna Shapleigh, Julia Shapleigh; sisters, Mary Curley, Gertrude Whipple; nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from Maher-Collins Funeral Home, 360 North Maple Avenue, Kingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Ignatius Loyola Church at 10:15. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
