It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a devoted husband, father and friend, Thomas Kanor. Tom’s life was defined by love, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of the outdoors.
He was a man who put his family at the center of everything he did. As a father, he led not with words alone, but through steady example—showing up, lending a hand, and offering quiet strength when it mattered most. His love was constant and dependable, the kind that gave those around him a sense of security and acceptance.
Tom, known by friends as “Horse”, believed in the value of honest work. Whether long days or difficult tasks, he approached every responsibility with determination and pride. That work ethic wasn’t just how he made a living—it was a principle by which he led his life and passed down to his children.Outside of work, he found his greatest peace traveling and discovering new experiences with his wife, Molly and dog, Emma.
He cherished time spent outdoors, especially gathered around a campfire, where stories were shared, laughter carried into the night, and memories were quietly made. Those moments—simple, warm, and genuine—reflected the kind of life he lived. He leaves behind a family who will remember him by his booming voice, a horse’s appetite, and hands that made a bear’s paw look small.
Though he is no longer with us, his presence will be felt in every act of kindness, every shared story, and every quiet moment by the fire.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Stella Kanor of Swoyersville, Pa. He is survived by his wife Molly Kanor of Forty Fort; his brother Jim Kanor of Swoyersville; children Jason Kanor and grandson Julian of Colorado Springs, Co. Joseph Kanor and wife Valerie of Pittston, Matthew Kanor and wife Larissa of Colorado Springs, Co.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their compassionate and supported care, and the love and support from friends and neighbors helping to care for his dog Emma.He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered
